Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving is always a great time of year. This year we went down to Cedar City to visit Greg's Grandma Cecile. I love going down there to visit, even though it's only a few hours away it just far enough away to feel like a vacation. This year we brought my sister Ashley with us to enjoy the fun. As always there was great food and a lot of laughs. I love that I married into a great family that I feel at home with when I can't go to Kansas. While down in Cedar City Greg's cousin Jenny taught us how to make these really cute hair bows that are so easy to make.
This Thanksgiving I also experienced Wal-Mart on Black Friday. Even though they only thing I got was towels it was hilarious. The highlight of the Wal-mart was the guy wearing a camouflage jacket, missing half his teeth that for some reason needed almost thirty Crockpots. I don't know how much I would trust a $3.00 Crockpot but hey it was a steal. So I ended up with towels, Ashley got a George Foreman Grill, and Jim got some heating blankets, and a lot of games. I would say we did really well!
As per tradition I had the opportunity to help put up Grandma Cecile's Christmas trees. I think I could put up hundreds of Christmas trees, I love them. Well I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving as well. We sure do have a lot to be thankful for!

We're Famous!

Well at least our apartment is. This afternoon when I came home from school their were a bunch of cameras and makeup chairs lining our apartment. A production company is filming a movie and chose our apartment as the location for a few of the scenes. When we asked what film they were shooting or what company they are from, they didn't really give us a good answer. All we know is that it is an independent film about teenagers. It is now 9:30pm and they are still filming. Maybe we will end up seeing our apartment on the big screen one day. Feel free to ask for autographs!

Two Years

On August 8th, Greg and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary! We celebrated with a relaxing weekend in St. George. I had actually never been to St. George so it was definitely a nice change of scenery. I love the deep rich colors of the rocks and the shopping is not too bad either. We also took time to go and see the temple while we were down there, and I must say I think it is now one of my favorites!

We also did our fair share of swimming while down there. All the kids in our hotel's pool had cool goggles so of course we had to get some, and I must say they definitely make swimming more fun. And of course we had to show up the kids in the pool!

When we got home Greg surprised me with a framed picture of our temple. I must say he has really good taste.

Two years and we are still going strong! I love you Greg!

Manti Pageant!!!

This year we decided that we would go down to the Manti Pageant. Greg and I rally love going down to it. The pageant is okay...the main reason we go down is to see our temple. I completely love seeing our temple all lit up and simply glowing. Ashley was also visiting and had never seen the pageant. We met up with some friends of our Jerry and her husband Luke. Both Greg and I and Jerry and Luke were sealed in the Manti temple so it was a treat!!!

Amazing!!!!

Pictures of the Apartment.

Here are some pictures of our new apartment. We are still working on the finishing touches, being in school and working slows down the process a little. We are still really enjoying having an apartment all to ourselves. We are really enjoying our ward and completly love how welcoming everyone has been!

It's what we do....

The last month for Greg and I has been a busy one. It seems like April just flew right on by. So here are a few things that we have been doing.

  • Moved into our new apartment. We LOVE it!
  • Started my third term at Provo College. Almost done!
  • I can successfully complete a full blood and urine analysis.
  • Attended both Lila and Owen's baby blessing. We love have two cute babies to hold and love.
  • Had an awesome visit from my parents. My only complaint is that it was too short.
  • Went to the Sugarland concert and won backstage passes to see Julianne Hough. It doesn't seem that cool but it was my first time winning anything.
  • Greg finished up spring semester at UVU and now is in his summer semester.
  • We are currently obsessed with the t.v. series Chuck.
  • I'm tackling the job of consistently cooking healthy dinners every night. It's been good so far, I haven't run out of recipes yet.

Theres not a whole lot that is new or exciting but we are keeping ourselves busy. We are loving the progression we are making!

Yeah...we have an apartment!!

We came ,we saw, and we conquered. Yes, that is right folks we now are the proud renters of our very own apartment. And I must admit in my eyes it is perfect. Greg and I have been searching for the last couple of weeks for the perfect apartment, and let me tell you it has not been easy. We have toured several very bad apartments and met a few very weird people living in them. At one particular apartment we were thrilled to tour it with four other couples. After the tour the owner told us and this is no joke, "Whoever can get the check to me the fastest gets the apartment." Yeah we totally just walked out of that one while the other couples rushed for the checkbooks to see who could write the fastest.
I rather enjoyed handing over our deposit today to our very nice new landlord, knowing that I would not have to look at another apartment for a very long time. Our apartment is a very cute two bedroom apartment with a lot of space, and the best part is it is right in our price range. We will be moving in about a month which gives me plenty of time sort and get rid of a lot of junk that we have accumulated.
I definitely think that Greg and I have both grown from this experience. I definitely learned to be patient. I think Heavenly Father just wanted me to wait it out a bit, because I'm sure in the future it will come in handy.

THE HUNT IS ON.

So Greg and I have the hideous task of finding an apartment. We've started looking, and most we look at are okay but not that great. I know that we'll find one, in the mean time I hate the search. And for people selling apartments, I have a few pointers:

1. A washer and dryer do NOT belong in the kitchen.
2. If you can't fully extend your body in a room, there is no way a couch will fit.
3. Just because you have painted does not mean you have "remodeled."
4. An extra drawer is not tons of extra space.

I really hope the search comes to an end and soon. I know we'll find a great one that we'll love.

Our New Nephew!!

This Valentine weekend has been a pretty eventful one for Greg and me. We had the opportunity to welcome our new nephew Owen Keith Chamberlin. He was born on Thursday morning and is the cutest little guy. He weighed 7lbs and was 19 inches long which surprisingly is the smallest baby that Karyn has had. Thursday night Greg and I went up to the hospital to enjoy smothering him with kisses. Makayla, Andrew, and Emma are so excited to have a new brother; they can't stop smiling.
For our Valentines date we went to Red Lobster (which is a favorite) and then went and saw the movie Valentines Day. It was pretty good, not bad for a chick flick.
